H1_CSS Gradient Generator - Linear & Radial | MultiTool

DESC

CSS CODE

How it works

Pick two colors (or hit Random), choose linear or radial, drag the angle for linear gradients, and copy the generated CSS. Popular presets like Sunset and Ocean are one click away.

Gradients that look expensive

  • Adjacent hues win: colors sitting near each other on the wheel (teal→blue, peach→rose) look refined; opposite colors meet in an ugly gray-brown middle zone.
  • The 20% rule: professionals rarely use pure 0%→100% ranges. Shifting the first stop to ~20% and the last to ~80% keeps both colors rich instead of washed out.
  • Diagonal > vertical: a 135° angle adds depth where a flat vertical reads as “default button from 2012”.
  • Overlay trick: a subtle gradient over a photo (deep color at 30–50% opacity) creates premium hero sections — the technique behind most landing pages you admire.
  • Performance note: CSS gradients cost nothing to load — they are computed by the browser, unlike background images. A gradient hero can save a megabyte versus a JPEG hero.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the generated code?+

Paste it into the CSS of any element, for example body with a background of linear-gradient(45deg, #ff9966 0%, #ff5e62 100%).

What is a linear gradient?+

A gradient that transitions between colors along a straight line. The angle controls the direction — 0deg is top-to-bottom, 90deg is left-to-right.

What is a radial gradient?+

A gradient that radiates outward from a center point in a circle, like a spotlight.

Can I use the same code for both types?+

The generator outputs the correct CSS for each type automatically when you switch.

Does the Random button create good palettes?+

It picks two harmonious random hues with good saturation and lightness, so most results look great. Click again for more.

Is it free?+

Yes, completely free with no account.
